The Beauty of Online Learning
You can be any place in the world as long as you have access to the Internet.
Online courses, forums, and seminars are each designed differently, but there are some commonalities among them. Some offerings will have power point presentations, some screens with audio, some without, while others may have Word or Excel documents. Some may use podcasts, chat rooms, or other types of media. Some offerings, such as the PMP exam preparation course, will have practice exercises, quizzes, and exams. Most offerings will have some type of discussion board with threaded discussions. Included in the items below are various activities that may be available to you.
Most offerings will be structured with a specific time period for a group of activities to be covered. For example, the PMP review course is 6 weeks in length with 2 knowledge areas covered per week. Forums are usually one week in length, and seminars may vary between one and three weeks. Participants have access to the site 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and are expected to access the site at least 4-5 days per week to receive PDU credit. All offerings have a presenter or instructor who oversees the discussions and participates during the event.
Research studies show that for those people who actively participate in online events, the event is as effective or better than a face-to-face event. If you decide to register for any of PMIGLC's online events, we believe you will enjoy the experience as well as benefit from it.
